After graduating James Roberts designed mOm, an inflatable incubator designed to save lives for which he won the prestigious International James Dyson Award. James will discuss his epic journey from design student to successful start-up.

After graduating from Loughborough University James Roberts designed mOm, an inflatable incubator designed to save lives. In 2014 James won the prestigious International James Dyson Award.

Exploring materials –Designing products Nir Meiri, NirMeiri Design Studio

Nir spent recent years researching materials and forms to create innovative designs.  He will talk about his personal journey in design and he will take you inside his world of inspiration and try to answer the question designers ask themselves while designing new products: What makes design good?

After graduating the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Nir started working as design director for an international furniture company. In 2010 Nir established his own studio.

Car design: the creative process Matthew Beaven, Chief Exterior Designer at Jaguar's Advanced Design studio.

How do we design cars for 20 years into the future?  Matthew will explore the creative process of designing a vehicle using the Jaguar C-X75 (which starred in the latest Bond movie) as a case study from initial sketch to press release.

Matthew Beaven has created exterior design concepts for cars such as the latest XF and XJ models. More recently Matthew led the exterior design team on the exciting C-X75 supercar.

About Professor Daniel Charny MBE

Daniel Charny is an internationally recognised Creative Director and Professor of Design at Kingston University.  Daniel has curated major shows for the Design Museum and the V&A. He is the founder of Fixperts and received an MBE for services to design and creativity.

The Science in Design Suzanne Trocmé, Designer, curator and author

Award-winning furniture designer Suzanne Trocmé will talk about the key ingredients which make for good design, focusing on colour theory, the Golden Rule and the practical issues which, together, result in successful design.

About Suzanne Trocmé

Suzanne Trocmé FRSA has lived and worked in New York and Paris before returning to London. She has written for diverse publications including “Wallpaper”, and is an award-winning furniture designer. Examples of her work can be seen in art galleries, restaurants and airports across America as well as in private homes.

Suzanne worked as Architecture and Design Editor for Wallpaper magazine. She also wrote for the New York Times magazine, the Saturday Telegraph and Architectural Digest. She is a recipient of the Good Design Award in America as well as winning the Gold Award at NeoCon in Chicago for her inaugural furniture collection in 2006. Suzanne was curator of the London Design Festival pan-London for a three-year period, She  has commissioned designs and curated for the V&A museum, St. Paul’s Cathedral as well as London’s Design Museum, and most recently in 2012 “Digital Crystal” at the Design Museum
