Making everyday objects special Sebastian Bergne, Object Designer

It has never been more important to design products that contribute positively. Industrial designer Sebastian Bergne will talk about 10 very different projects that are both normal and exceptional, expected and unexpected.

Industrial designer Sebastian Bergne is renowned for making everyday objects special with his essential and human approach to design. His achievements have been widely recognised with design awards and inclusion in museum collections.
Design Workshop Anna Ploszajski, Materials Scientist, Writer and Storyteller

In this two-part design workshop, materials engineer Dr Anna Ploszajski will set students a real-life design problem, and they’ll solve it in teams, mimicking the real design process used by the professionals like our speakers. Students will need to consider materials properties, usability, and will iterate by making multiple cardboard prototypes in order to refine their design, for the chance to win a coveted prize.

Anna Ploszajski is a materials scientist, author, presenter and science comedian who is on a mission to get people fascinated by the ordinary stuff which makes up the world around us. Her book Handmade tells the story of materials through their use in arts and crafts.

Ingrid is an award-winning ceramic artist who merges traditional craft with digital design, pushing the boundaries of ceramic art. Her captivating and immersive works showcase innovative interactions and experiences, blending craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. Ingrid will discuss her creative process, what inspires her, and how she seamlessly merges traditional craft skills with emerging digital design and fabrication processes.

Creative Prototyping Jude Pullen, Creative Technologist and Prototyping Expert

Join Jude in a dynamic session as he explores big topics such as futurism, radical beta-testing, design thinking, innovation, sustainability, diversity, and disruptive technology. During this session Jude will challenge the audience to reconsider their approach to work and innovation, and show us how he works these principles into his impressive client roster, including RS Group, Pentagram, IKEA and LEGO to name a few!
