Steven Gunn is Professor of Early Modern History and Fellow and Tutor at Merton College, Oxford University. His research and teaching focuses on later medieval and early modern Britain and Europe with a particular emphasis on Tudor government, warfare, foreign policy and political culture. He contributes regularly to radio and TV programmes and his many books include Henry VII’s New Men and the Making of Tudor England and The English People at War in the Age of Henry VIII.
