Sarah Hart is Professor of Mathematics at Birkbeck College, University of London. She was educated at Oxford and Manchester, gaining her PhD in 2000. At Birkbeck she teaches mathematics at all levels from beginner undergraduate to PhD, as well as carrying out research in pure mathematics, particularly group theory. She enjoys communicating mathematics to all kinds of audiences; this has included Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclasses, visits to schools to talk to sixth-formers, and most recently a public lecture on the links between art, symmetry and mathematics.
