Richard Billingham is an award-winning artist, photographer and film maker whose work is based on the close observation of everyday life. He has made work his family history and landscape. Work in public collections includes the Met. New York, The Tate and V & A Galleries London. In 1997 he was the first recipient of the Deutsche Borse Photography Prize and he was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2001. He recently wrote and directed the BAFTA nominated feature film ‘Ray & Liz’ based on his own lived experience of growing up during the Thatcher Era. He has recently begun working with marginalised people in UK cities.
