Rachel Griffith is Professor of Economics at the University of Manchester and Deputy Research Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies. She is Joint Managing Editor of the Economic Journal, and will be President of the European Economic Association in 2015. She was previously a Professor in Economics at University College London and was Senior Economist at the Competition Commission.
Rachel’s research considers the relationship between government policy and economic performance. She holds an European Research Council Advanced Grant to study the Microeconomics Analysis of Prices, Food and Nutrition; research on this grant aims to provide a deeper understanding of consumer food purchasing behaviour and firm food pricing behaviour, and their impact on nutrition. Her research also considers issues related to corporate taxation, productivity and innovation.
