Writer and novelist
Pat Barker is an award-winning writer and novelist, best known for her Regeneration Trilogy. Her writing often explores difficult subjects such as prostitution, homosexuality, mental illness, trauma, war and murder. Her novel Regeneration, with its blend of history and unflinching eye for detail in addressing the physical and mental effects of war, is highly studied and a popular set text for A-level English Literature students.
