Explorer and Broadcaster

Michael Palin, BAFTA fellow and former President of the Royal Geographical Society, won international acclaim for his comedy work, most notably with Monty Python, but he is now also recognized as an outstanding interpreter of the theme at the heart of geography: people and places.  Fascinated by the way in which people adapt to and make the most of their environment, his travels have taken him around the world from pole to pole and from west to east, across the Sahara and Himalayas.  His most recent exploration has been of Brazil, one of the four new global super powers.
