Dr Ben Hanson is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University College London, where he researches biomedical applications of engineering, system-modelling and analysis. He has Affiliate status in UCL’s Division of Medicine where he works with Cardiologists at the Heart Hospital as an Honorary Research Associate. He has created prototypes of mechanical heart-assist devices, he works in the operating theatre using computers to analyse electrical signals from the patient’s heart, and he has studied people who have pacemakers to study the effect of stress and emotion on their hearts.
